The Alemnis Standard Assembly (ASA) can be used as a stand-alone micromechanical test system on any rugged laboratory bench. For this type of ex-situ operation, it is recommended that the ASA be placed in a dedicated enclosure and that the enclosure be placed on a vibration-damping table to minimize noise. The ASA can also be mounted under an optical microscope that provides a side view for experiments under ambient conditions.
